2026 Population By-Census to Conclude on 15 August, Complete Survey to Enter "Cooperating Households Lucky Draw"

MACAU, August 11 - Data collection for the 2026 Population By-Census is well underway, with online submission ending on 10 August. The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) expresses gratitude to the sampled households who have completed the survey, and appeals to those who are yet to respond to submit the questionnaires by 15 August. Households who complete the survey will automatically be entered into the “Cooperating Households Lucky Draw”.

Assistance in Completion through Household Visits

For households who have not completed the survey, DSEC enumerators will conduct household visits in pairs for data collection by 15 August. The usual visit hours are from 14:30 to 22:30. Enumerators are identifiable by their navy blue uniforms bearing the DSEC logo, grey work bags, and the official 2026 Population By-Census ID badges. To check the identity of enumerators, households may scan the QR code on the notification letter or call 8809 8809. Enumerators will leave appointment cards if they are unable to reach the households, and households may provide information through telephone interviews or schedule household visits by calling the hotline.

Beware of Scams

Households are reminded that DSEC will never ask for ID card, bank account or credit card details, nor request bank transfers or remittances. If in doubt, households may call 8809 8809, or check the fraud risk score and report suspicious messages via the WeChat anti-fraud programme of the Judiciary Police, or seek assistance by calling the anti-fraud enquiry hotline at 8800 7777 or the crime report hotline at 993.

Complete Survey to Enter “Cooperating Households Lucky Draw”

DSEC conducts the 2026 Population By-Census in accordance with Decree Law No. 62/96/M, which stipulates that all respondents must provide the required information within the specified period. Households that complete the survey, regardless of their submission methods, will automatically be entered into “Cooperating Households Lucky Draw” for a chance to win an electronic red packet of MOP100. Winning households will be notified upon the publication of the draw results on the 2026 Population By-Census website at the end of September.
