“Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” Further Upgraded: Three Social Security Benefits Collectible in Guangdong via “Macao One Account” Starting in September

MACAU, September 2 - To further enhance Guangdong–Macao cross-border social security services and facilitate Macao residents’ receipt of social security payments in Guangdong Province, the Social Security Fund (hereinafter “the FSS”) has upgraded the “Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” service. Building on existing arrangements, a new online application channel via “Macao One Account” has been introduced, establishing a dual-track system for online and offline processing. This approach meets residents’ varied application needs and comprehensively improves the convenience of cross-border transactions.

From September onward, when residents apply via “Macao One Account” for old-age pension, disability pension, or sickness allowance, they need only select a designated bank in the Chinese Mainland during the application process, upload the relevant bank account details and the “Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” application form, and, upon FSS approval, payments will be directly credited to the designated bank account in the Chinese Mainland. Cross-border remittance fees will be waived, making life in the Chinese Mainland more convenient for residents. Those already receiving social security payments may continue to submit “Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” applications at the FSS service points, at the expanded network of 29 service counters established under the “Guangdong–Macao Social Insurance One-Stop Service”, and at Macao associations operating in Guangdong, enabling applications to be lodged near their place of residence.

Residents wishing to receive the “Two Pensions and Five Allowances” and Central Provident Fund payments disbursed by the FSS in Guangdong must, regardless of the application method, first open a personal bank account with Bank of China or the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in the Chinese Mainland.
